Shariqah Alam

A quote that she lives by is: 'Whatever you do, always give your 100%. Unless you're donating blood.' - Bill Murray.

Shariqah is our wonderful volunteer, and she writes the blogs, deciphers research studies, and hunts for relevant resources and stories for us. She wishes to use her writing to connect with youth all over Canada and be an outlet for individuals who are struggling with Mental Health and looking for creative ways to deal with it. As a youth herself, she has always been enthusiastic and has an advantage in understanding and connecting better with our target populations.

In her free time, she enjoys sitting down with a good book and a cup of coffee. Her creative way of maintaining her Mental Health wellness is through writing. She loves expressing what she is feeling through words, more specifically, through stories.

We would like to acknowledge the traditional territories of the peoples of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Blackfoot First Nation tribes of Siksika, the Piikuni, the Kainai, the Stoney Nakoda First Nations tribes of Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley and the Tsuut’ina First Nation. The city of Calgary is also homeland to the historic Northwest Métis and to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3. We pay our respects to the Elders, past and present, and extend our gratitude for their wisdom and teachings.

As settlers, we are committed to reconciliation, understanding, and building positive relationships with the Indigenous communities. We are humbled by the privilege to call these lands home and will never take it for granted.

At Art and Creative Skills Collective, everyone is valued and respected. We stand with the 2SLGBTQI+ and trans community, creating a safe and welcoming environment for all. Our doors are open, and our hearts are welcoming to all.
